“Zero Tolerance of FGM”

#Ahmed_Mohamoud_Hassan (Āhmēd Ñøūr), is a second year student at New Generation University College in Buroa campus, department of Public Health. He is the secretary of the University’s student union and one of the energetic students among his team. He shared with us a very heartbroken case story, which happened one of his young cousins, during our meeting with university students in Buroa.

Ahmed, mentioned that he witnessed when his cousin with other young girls was practiced the virulent procedures of FGM by circumcisers. He said that most of the girls were very young and didn’t aware anything about FGM, which lately end up severe bleeding, sickness and demise of his innocent young cousin.

“It was very hideous and sadness day, when I heard that my young beautiful cousin dead after she was done the infibulation type of FGM (Type 3)”. Ñøūrsaid during university students meeting in Buroa held by Candlelight For Environment Education and Health.

Āhmēd vowed that he will fight for the rights of the young girls who are vulnerable to be done this practice by raising many campaigns voluntarily, until he see his community practicing zero tolerance to their young girls.

“I believe that it will be difficult for me to raise such campaigns but it touched me personally and left my heart unforgettable misery and many black dots, which leaded me to make zero tolerance commitment of FGM”. Ñøūr added.

Eventually, Ahmed stated that the only thing he is learning is to help and be the shoulders of the needy and indigent community, likewise be the voice for the voiceless, forgotten and disregarded people in the community, rather striving to earn and get money.
