Project Title : Enhancing the food security of pastoral and agro pastoral community in Somaliland
Project overall goal: The social welfare conditions of pastoral and agro-pastoral communities in the target villages are improved: Specific Objective :Household income of pastoral and agro-pastoral families in the target areas is increased
Project Period: 1ST January 2012- 31st December 2015
Targeted Locations: Maroodi-jeex Region of Somaliland
Expected Results of the project 1: The productivity of agriculture sector in the target villages is increased 2: The alternative livelihoods sources are increased in target communities 3: The capacity of the farmers’ co-operatives is improved 4: Value addition businesses is increased in target villages 5: The livestock productivity is increased in the target villages 6: The professionalism capacity of CLHE and ADO staff to manage Food security project is strengthened
Main component Activities :
- Provide continues training sessions on modern agriculture knowledge and practices for 12 community contact persons.
- Construction of Gabions check dumps
- Construction of soil and stone bunds each year in target Villages to reduce soil erosion.
- Rehabilitation shallow wells
