Girl’s Education Promotion Trainings


Somali Girls Education Promotion Programme (SOMGEP) , this project aims is to improve access to education, learning outcomes, quality of education and retention of 21,727 girls from some of the poorest, most vulnerable and marginalized households in remote and rural areas of Togdheer, Sool, Sanaag, regions in Somaliland, Puntiland and south centrail of Somalia by Funded Care and Implement by Candlelight with in this district( Badhan, Erigavo, Elafweyn and Ainabo).

Here is the training for community education committees ( CEC) which took place Gar’Adag Primary School Compound with a 21 participant from three villages Fadhi-Gaab, Ceel-cadde and Balanbaal, and CEC training for Ceelafweyn, Huluul, and Laasdoomare.

The specific objectives of the trainings:

  1. Effectively support the Head teachers and teachers in the management of the school.
  2. Effectively mobilize community to participate and support school management, sustainability and durability.
  3. Gender balance in education and the promotion of the girl’s rights for education as well as understand problems associated with girl’s education opportunities.
  4. Provide sound leadership and effective management of CEC members in their schools.
  5. Promote peaceful conflict resolution, mitigation among the teachers, students and Head teachers.
  6. Promote the welfare of the communities in their school through effective contribution
  7. The aim of the training is to empower these school committees to be able to participate more actively in school financial planning, school improvement development thus making activities more sustainable and community driven.
  8. To equip the school committees with peace building/conflict resolution/mitigation skills

Training topics:
1. Leadership: Definition and different styles of leadership
2. To understand the role of CEC toward school management and supervision
3. To understand school development plans and work with it
4. To understand and develop samples of school improvement plans by each particular school
5. Roles and responsibilities of CEC’s for school administration
6. Community participation, ownership and community mobilization
7. Gender equity in education: importance, obstacles and strategies to overcome it.
8. Girl’s education rights and the problems associated with and their possible solutions.
9. The Role of CEC for financial management and resource mobilization
10. Action plan
