Reducing Vulnerability and Building Community Resilience to Climate Change Effects in Somaliland is aiming training community members on holistic resource management, soil and water conservation, erosion control and protection with rehabilitation /Construction of shallow wells and provide water pumps, training farmers on agronomic practices and agro-pastoralist on milk preservation techniques. This project is funded by KNH/BMZ.

Project Objectives: Enhancing community resilience and climate change adaptation skills in Togdheer and Sahil region

Project Period: Jan 2015 to Dec 2017

Intervention Area: Ceel-xume,Alifarah, Hajisaleh, Warcibraan, Mohamoud Abane, Qoyta, Beerato, Beer, Odwayne, Alaulle and Go’da

Main Activities:

  • Train 75 community members on holistic resource management, soil and water conservation, erosion control and protection.
  • Rehabilitation /Construction of 20 shallow wells and provide water pumps
  • Train 175 members of farmers on agronomic practices,
  • Training of 40 agro-pastoralist on milk preservation techniques
  • Training of 20 CAHWs on integrated pest control and management.
  • Training of 30 small fodder producers and 20 artisans (10 female)
  • CMDRR training for 180 community members
  • Rehabilitation of16 underground water facilities
  • Construction of 4 solid sand storage sub surface dams,
  • Establishment 2 trees nursery
  • Consultation meetings to identify traditional early warning system
